[edit] Plot
The West Wing gets a right winger as young Republican lawyer Ainsley Hayes signs on as Associate White House Counsel. She's offered the job at the insistence of the President, after he sees her demolish Sam on a TV talk show. Meanwhile, the President of an AIDS-ravaged African country visits the White House and spars with drug-company executives.
[edit] Trivia
- At the beginning of this episode when Sam and Ainsley are having a debate on TV, Ainsley corrects Sam by saying that Kirkwood is in California, not Oregon. What is not mentioned is that despite Sam's claim that Kirkwood is a fair example of an average city and school system, the town in fact has about 100 people and few children.
- The theme music used for the show Capital Beat in this episode is identical to that of the British News programme News at Ten.
- The phone number Ainsely Hayes reads off of the caller ID as being the White House is actually the phone number to the White House switchboard, 202-456-1414.
[edit] Quotes
