A good stub was replaced with copyvio-content. The latest good version is [1]. ✏ Sverdrup 09:15, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC) avy influence on it is not disputed."
Wrong, I dispute it! 71.10.17.28 09:37, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Influence
I don't think them inventing the Gothenburg version of Melodic death should be hinted at, as Dissection developed a style very similar to them years earlier.
[edit] Genre
I think the term Gothenburg Metal should be removed from the infobox, according to me it's not a genre, it's just medias way of labelizing melodic death metal that hails from sweden, but if somebody gives me good reasons as to leave it I will accept that.
[edit] New Stub
I've created a new stub for "In Flames". It doesn't have much in the way of a biography, but I've added the band's complete discography.
Nyght 17:51, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- As I noted above, I think we can use the latest good version. I just don't know how to delete the copyvio edits and retain the attribution to the latest good version. ✏ Sverdrup 10:24, 6 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Biography?
Did some basic reformatting.. anybody care putting up a bit more of a biography?
It has few uneutral content
[edit] Vandalized
Some idiot with nothing better to do has vandalized this page. He/she has change the genre name of In Flames from Melodic Death Metal to Nu Romantic Pop. I've tried to clean it up as best as possible but I believe the main contributors to this article will be more qualified then I. Please please help me sort out this mess and give In Flames an article they deserve!!!
- o rly
He's done it again, and probably left this message ^^^. I think this article should be saved and merged with "idiotic behaviour." The hilarious thing is, this guy, seems to think he knows about metal, when he believes that In Flames don't deserve to share a stage with Slipknot. Other way round dude, and that can be argued without resorting to puerile homosexual slurs.
Can't someone kick this idiot all the way up to Mars? It's really incredible that someone so stupid is allowed to have a pc at his disposal. It's disrespectful of people with a brain.
- This article should be locked so that only people registered to wikipedia can edit it --Dexter prog 17:48, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] fixed vandalization
i did what i could to fix all the vandalization. someone thinks they are a metal god and can totally discredit this band. get off your high horse and show some respect.
hey guys whats this thing with genre's who cares if they are a meldic Death metal band or a pop-rock group. I think in flames makes real good and i mean it real GOOD music The best rock groups of all time as of 2007 according to me are iron maiden

[edit] ATTENTION ADMINS

Kill the vandals!!!!!!
[edit] ATTENTION ADMINS
Just another vandlizm!!!!!
[edit] WTF
What the hell is this Nu Romantic pop rubbish, how the heck can anyone even think that, In Flames are obviously metal (Melodic Death Metal to be precise) and if you disagree with that then you are obviously and idiot...
No, actually, In Flames is not Melodic Death Metal, but they are actually progressive metal. I don't know why so many people think of them as death metal, my guess is that they want to seem hardcore and say they listen to death metal, when infact they are listening to progressive metal.
Where did that come from!? In Flames are definately a Melodic Death Metal band, and perhaps one of the best examples of it. They are not progressive metal. In Flames 12:00, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Wow...In Flames are not progressive metal nor are they death metal, they are melodic death metal (which is not death metal at all, just the same vocals) influenced by alternative metal and gothencore.
[edit] vandalism
Ok who ever said this above is right, editing should be disallowed and the article should be restored to the original...
[edit] Former members?
Who the hell is "Scott Mccarthy (2001)"
well if you idiots look correctly you find they are not pop but a death metal band
No if you look correctly you'll find that they are not death metal but progressive metal instead.
[edit] Vandalism
Yes, once again the same vandalist has taken time out of his or her busy schedule to attack this page. Obviously someone has a great dislike for the band In Flames. I've just changed everything back. This user 86.15.4.242 should be blocked or something. I don't know how to do it, so if someone knows how to do it, please permanently block them. All they keep doing is attacking the In Flames page.
- In Flames is Melodic Death metal. So stop calling them nu-romantic pop, which isn't even a genre.
- Changing all the albums' names is petty and a waste of time.
- Why the hell are you bothering to vandalise anyway? There's a lot of people who will just change it back. I'm guessing you have a lot of time on your hand
Once again it's 86.15.4.242 In Flames 19:04, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
I'll do it--Childzy (Talk|Contribs) 20:46, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Old Singer
didnt in flames have an old singer? He was on all their past tours and was in the cloud connected and only for the weak videos. where did he go and what is his name?
On their first album the singer was the guy from Dark Tranquility
Mikael Stanne wasn't ever part of the band but he was a session vocalist for In Flames.
[edit] Videos
I just wanted to say I added some videos and only the one's that i could remember If someone knows of others or I have got dates wrong please correct them
Eagle5 17:18, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Followers
I'm stuck to why Hatebreed are classed as a follower. They've got more in common with Agnostic Front than In Flames, although I'm aware that they are probably into death metal (Jamey Jasta wearing a Death logo t-shirt etc).
[edit] Roots And Influences
noticed new section up, i think it has incorrect info, i'm pretty sure In Flames influenced Killswitch Engage not the other way around.--Leon Sword 02:24, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm tempted to just remove that section. Personally, I don't see what value such a list holds, even if it were correctly cited, which as far as I can see it isn't. Though, it might be better if there were a paragraph about a few key influences instead of just a list, if anyone's up for doing that. - Blah3 10:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- You probably should go with the second option, the last.fm wiki has said that In Flames was one of THE first Death metal bands, as such, there wouldn't be many influences really to note. 01:27, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Matter of Taste
Wonderful, and in depth article, but!: I think 1) the discussion about who influenced who should be left out, it doesn't matter, it's all good. And, 2) I'm not just saying this because I really like the band, but doesn't the article contain too much discussion on whether the band have sold out with this or that album. Perhaps shorten it, and instead keep, and perhaps even expand the sections on what the band actually did differently with their music on the different albums. Oh yeah, and generally I'm not too fond of labelling the different genres of metal, and it's not just because I don't quite understand the distinctions :-)

[edit] Soundtrack to your escape
i personally dont think their music has become "softer" in rescent albums. shure there are a few softer songs on the album, but it still has the "In Flames" feel to it, and it is still ass good as ever. And i would like to add that in Flames has one of the best live acts ever in my opinion, they have one of the best live acts i have ever seen in my opinion, and they connect with the crowd very well. In Flames are one of the best Bands ever!!!
Chris
[edit] Linked all the videos & The DVD Area
Yeah, I linked all the videos and cleaned up the videos/singles part ^_^ also, I Added the Bounus DVD's on Come Clarity and STYE. Also, I added the System Video and Single
[edit] Missing video, a little bit of missing other information
There's one video missing, "Take This Life".
There's also 2 more bonus tracks at the end of "Clayman":
12. World of Promises [Bonus Track] 13. Strong & Smart [Bonus Track]
I'm suprised nobody else has noticed O_o
Mattz1010 01:24, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
The Video of Take This Life is there... - Kreepman
[edit] Added System Video
I added the video for system - Kreepman
[edit] Jesper has NOT left the band - or is it required to mention he is "on break". Anders and Daniel have both done it before.
Just LEAVE IT ALONE.
[edit] Missing Album Covers
I'm seeing a bunch of missing album covers in the discography. What's happened? Gwrtheyrn 02:12, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Genre listings
Why does the current genre listing say "metalcore" and then "swedecore", if "swedecore" is just a deriative form of metalcore? And where is "alternative metal"? This is my opinion: In Flames is a melodic death metal band influenced by alternative metal and swedecore. Therefore, I would list "melodic death metal", "alternative metal", and "swedecore" as the genres. I'm going to make the edit because although it says "do not change the genre listing without a consensus", there DOES appear to be a consensus that "Soundtrack to your Escape" is alternative metal.
- I don't think In Flames (including their new stuff) is "Metalcore" at all. Let alone influenced by "Swedecore" (Metalcore), when they've been around a lot longer than that terms been around. I think Swedecore should be taken off, as that is what these Metalcore bands consider themselves who are influenced by Melodic Swedish Death Metal, not In Flames themselves. JanderVK
[edit] Non-sensical sentence in intro
In the first paragraph it is written: "During the years changed and evolved their style through many influences, especially in the last years." This sentence doesn't make sense but I don't even know the band so I can't edit it to make it look right. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tomtheebomb (talk • contribs) 08:25, 22 December 2006 (UTC).
[edit] HOLY CRAP
Someone needs to get rid of this vandalism, RIGHT NOW. Although it is pretty funny, but still, it needs to be taken care of.
[edit] Lock This page Goddamnit!
Fix the Vandalization, then Lock it. I'm tired of coming to this page to find that all of the albums cannot be selected because some childish impotent no-name with an intellectual age of 3 had to go and pass around his bullshit worthless slanderous edit. t(o.ot)
[edit] genre
The New Sound isn't anything like Melodic Death Metal. I think Modern Rock(Reroute to remain) Or Thrash Metal (Most of the songs on come clarity) should be added too. Darryl87 15:48, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Modern Rock doesn't exist, it's a very superficial genre added by MetalArchives. The thrash you are saying is metalcore (or Swedecore as some people call it, but I disagree with this word for many reasons). Latest albums were labelled as prog metal by somebody, but there is a lot of confusion with Alternative Metal. Imho we should put in MDM (earliest album), alt metal (latest album) and if we agree, Scandinavian metal and/or heavy metal.
Connacht 13:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Swedish chart positions?
This article already has all of the band's chart positions in the U.S. But what about chart positions in their home country, Sweden? Personally I found it intersting that "Come Clarity" debuted at #1 [2]. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.238.170.154 (talk) 22:01, 3 February 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Removing Former Members
Should Mikael Stanne be listed as a member? He only did session vocals on their first album 02:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Fartlenorf
[edit] i guess this isn't the first time
