The term ‘Indianism’ means ‘Devotion to or preference for the people and culture of India’. The word is fairly new to English language. It has been recently added to a few online dictionaries.

The frequent usage of the term ‘Indianism’ is missing from day to day conversational language. However, a sudden splurge of its usage can be witnessed on the World Wide Web. The term has managed to generate excitement amongst certain sections of online community.
According to some views doing rounds on the web, Indianism means preference for anything Indian. It could be a feeling guided by nationalist attitude or could even be a simple liking for the Indian way of life. Besides, Indianism is not a concept restricted to the people of Indian origin. Anybody with a love for Indian way of life can be an Indianist.
