Ingrid Berghmans

Ingrid Berghmans (born August 24, 1961 in Koersel) is a former judoka from Belgium, who after her marriage became known as Ingrid Vallot. Alongside Robert Van De Walle she was the face of Belgian judo in the late 1970s and 1980s. For a record eight times she was named Belgian Sportswoman of the Year.
Berghmans is the most successful female judoka in the history of the sport, with a record six world titles. She won the Open class in 1980, 1982, 1984 and 1986, and at under 72kg in 1984 and 1989, and has also won four silver medals and a bronze. She also captured the title at the 1988 Summer Olympics in the 72kg division when women's judo was still a demonstration sport, and was European champion at 72kg in 1985, 1988, 1989 and Open in 1983, 1987 and 1988. She married Belgian judoka Marc Vallot in 1990.
