The result of the debate was NO CONSENSUS to move page, per discussion below. I did some googling, and it appears that "INSEE" is 20-40 times more common on English language webpages than the full English name. (The numbers vary depending on how many filters you use, but it's on the order of 400,000 versus 10,000.) It appears that "INSEE" is quite common in English sources, so the article should be alright at its current title. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:51, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- INSEE → National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies — Two reasons. The first is that it is an initialism and we generally don't use those for naming articles per WP:NCA. The second is that articles about French stuff on the English wikipedia should be in English, title included unless the French name is of common use in English. --Bob 23:48, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

- Also, the official website for this institute gives its name in the English form on its website. Also, other stats institutes from other countries, known in their respective languages, are already translated to their english forms here on wikipedia. e.g. National Institute of Statistics (Portugal), Federal Statistical Office of Germany and National Institute of Statistics (Spain).

- Support but will withdraw it if evidence of overwhelming English usage of "INSEE" is presented. The official institute site's English page uses "National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies" displayed prominently at the top of the page (see here). — AjaxSmack 07:16, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose. It is known as the INSEE, no reason to anglicize its name. Translation is given in the article. Nobody would have the idea of googling "National Institute...". Lapaz 16:40, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
