Intergroupe des Écoles Centrale

The Intergroupe des Écoles Centrale is the association of the following school of engineering :
- Ecole Centrale Paris
- Ecole Centrale de Lyon
- Ecole Centrale de Lille
- Ecole Centrale de Nantes
- Ecole Centrale de Marseille
- École Centrale de Pékin, recently founded in Beijing
[edit] Goal
Its goal was originally is to promote the education of the following type of engineers :
- multidisciplinary engineers, with a very strong backgrounds in a big number of scientific fields
- a specialization during the final year
- close contact with the industry and international partners during the engineer formation
- educators should have close links with academic and private research
- only one engineer diploma in each school : the specialization is not so strong as in a number of other institutions
It is now more generally to educate students to all the Sciences for the Engineer and as a consequence also to do research in these fields.

Different types of studies are possible. One can do the Centralien program, a Mastère Spécialisé, a Master of Science or PhD doctoral studies.
The entrance in the Centralien program is possible after two years of university-level studies. At this point, there is different ways to enter in an Ecole Centrale:
- a selective exam with numerus clausus for the majority of the french students
- a selection by the TIME network'sprogram or by an academic jury for the others
