International Mutoscope Reel Company
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Mutoscope, a type of moving picture arcade machine and its films, was first invented and marketed by the American Mutoscope Company aka American Mutoscope and Biograph Company in 1895. In 1909 the company stopped manufacturing the arcade machines but, in the early 1920's, Bill Rabkin was licensed by the company to produce Mutoscope machines and Rabkin formed a new company called The International Mutoscope Reel Company. Rabkin's International Mutoscope Reel Company produced metal Mutoscope machines using the same card reels as the earlier machines from 1926 to 1949. The company went out of business in 1949.
