Interstate 124
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interstate 124 (abbreviated I-124) is an extremely short Interstate highway located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. It is a spur route of Interstate 24, and is only two miles or 3.2km long. There are currently no signs on the road to indicate that it is an Interstate; it is marked as U.S. Highway 27. It diverges from I-24 just before the Moccasain Bend in the Tennessee River, continues North through downtown Chattanooga, and then across the Tennessee River as a divided highway on the P.R. Olgiati Bridge. After crossing the river, it becomes US-27.
Other extremely short "stub" Interstates occur in many downtown areas around the country to help traffic flow both through and into the cities.
