Talk:International CXT

Hey, can we maybe put in something about how a lot of people find the vary notion of such a vehicle disgusting? RossTaben 9:15 am PST 11.29.05
- Why? Note that the truck is great for rescuing beached marine mammals, hauling tree seedlings, towing the Greenpeace boats, cleaning up after illegal dumping, hauling solar panels for your home, taking stuff to be recycled, etc. Now you want one, right? AlbertCahalan 16:01, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- Beaches animals are rarely transport long distances. Most tree seedlings are small enough that a normal truck could be used, and I suspect it would be more efficient to use several normal trucks or perhaps multiple journeys with a single truck (or preferbly, trains or boats) to transport a large number of tree seedlings then one of these. Similarly, it is rather unlikey that solar panels would be off sufficient size and weight to need one of these and if there is sufficient quantity that one could be used, several smallers trucks could easily be more efficient. The same applies to cleaning up after illegal dumping and taking stuff to be recycled. Greenpeace boats are almost definitely too big to be transport by these. The simple fact is, if there was any real need for this in the real world, the sale figures would be much higher then 1000 per year... Also, it wouldn't have DVD, satellite radio or leather since for real world uses, these luxuries are just an unnecessary waste Nil Einne 13:06, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Commercial Extreme Truck is the name
I had a hard time finding the Commercial Extreme Truck on Wikipedia because there's no mention other than "CXT" here. There needs to be a redirect from "Commercial Extreme Truck" and what the other names (RXT, MXT) stand for (if anything) needs to be made clear. Fixed Tmaull 16:07, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, I answered my own question and noted that RXT stands for Recreational Extreme Truck. I still couldn't find out for sure what MXT stands for, but it looks like it might be Military Extreme Truck based on this: [1]
[edit] Criticisms
"Shame on International for making this thing...This is a monster truck that only a Hummer could love, and it shows that without government leadership, the auto industry will lead us to more irresponsible, gas-guzzling vehicles." Isn't that what CAFE is all about? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_Average_Fuel_Economy
