Iron County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 10,697. Its county seat is Ironton ⁶. The county was organized in 1857 and named for the presence of Iron ore.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,430 km² (552 mi²). 1,428 km² (551 mi²) of it is land and 2 km² (1 mi²) of it (0.13%) is water.

The highest point in Missouri, Taum Sauk Mountain, is located in the county, and is part of the Saint Francois Mountains of the Ozarks plateau. The summit of Taum Sauk is 1772 feet above sea level.
