Talk:Ishayas' Ascension
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These two articles are very similar. They need to be merged.
- I am ready to go ahead with the merger. There doesn't seem to be any objections, and it is just reasonable that these two articles be merged asap. (ps! please sign your posts) --Cracker jack 18:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merger
The merger between ishaya and Ishayas'_Ascension is now completed. I tried to take the best from both articles. If anyone has any objections feel free to discuss, and improve the text --Cracker jack 15:40, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Libel
This article violates the Wikipedia policy:Libel (WP:LIBEL) by the violation of "the neutral point-of-view style of prose" and the violation of "all information being referenced through the citation of reliable published sources, so as to maintain a standard of verifiability" which in turn makes this article defamatory. In these sentences the author writes: "It should be noted that the preceding paragraph is effectively a pronouncement for many of the commercial, profit centric, organizations that sponsor Ascension courses and teacher training." Sentences such as these break the neutrality of the article for it expresses the authors own opinions on the matter with no citations. The author also makes statements such as: "Also of paramount importance for any reader, is to thoroughly investigate and learn about how Transcendental Meditation (TM) techniques, which form the core mechanics of the ascension attitudes training, can also be used as mind control methods by organizations with cult-like characteristics and objectives." This sentence not only is unverified by a citation but represents the authors own view on the subject breaking the neutrality of the article. Also in the subcategory of Followers there are no citations for sentences such as: "Restricted low energy diets are also a common living condition at teacher training facilities" "During the months of training teachers have controlled and limited access to the real world outside the training facility and are strongly encouraged or required to limit access to all other family members, friends, and other business, financial or social contacts." Based on the wikipedia policy of Libel, "all contributors should recognize that it is their responsibility to ensure that material posted on Wikipedia is not defamatory."
I have retracted the text identifed above that is in dispute. While based on research, much of which can be derived directly from the links provided on the page, I appreciate the concern that it was not properly identified as being either primarily or secondardily attributable to sources that would meet wikipedia's standard.
