Ivor Dent

Ivor Dent (born February 7, 1924) is a politician and educator from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Ivor ran in the 1955 Alberta general election in Edmonton district, for the Cooperative Commonwealth. He finished 25th in the first count of ballots and was quickly eliminated in the vote transfer.
He served on the Edmonton Municipal Council as Alderman from 1963 to 1968 and then Mayor from 1968 to 1974.
He ran in a 1986 federal by-election in the riding of Pembina for the New Democratic Party, coming within less than 300 votes of winning. [1]
In 1983, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.[2] In 2005 he was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal.[3]
