Ivory Crockett

Ivory Crockett (b. August 24, 1948) is a former sprinter who, for a time, held the distinction of being "the world's fastest man" at his distance. In 1974, Crockett broke the world record for the 100-yard dash by being timed at just nine seconds flat. This was timed manually. The Los Angeles Times characterized the event with the headline "IMMORTALITY IN 9 SECONDS FLAT".
