Ixtepec

Ixtepec is a small city in the south of Mexico. It is in the state of Oaxaca, and the region of Istmo de Tehuantepec. Ixtepec used to be an important railway center point, but nowadays no passenger trains traffic Ixtepec and the main employers are the Mexican army and the Pepsi factory. It is located west of Juchitán, El Espinal and Ixtaltepec. Spanish is the main language; Zapoteco is spoken, though to a lesser extent than in Juchitán and Ixtaltepec. Ixtepec's patron saint is San Jerónimo, whose day is celebrated September 30.
