Template talk:IY Character
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an issue worth bringing up. There have been a lot of changes to this template recently. Some have been beneficial, such as removing the unnecessarily redundant ‘Romaji’ category. This change should by all means be maintained.
Other changes, however, have been to the detriment of this template. The font size is now too small; an in-page template's font looks better when it is the same size as the main body text. The new title box makes it impossible to add furigana — which are informative and relevant to the characters' names — without a glaringly obvious table outline. Finally, the new vermillion tone just does not fit. That colour has not appeared with any frequency throughout the series and does not reflect the art style or medieval flavour of InuYasha.
If nobody contests it within the next week or so, the template will be changed to resemble its previous, purple-titled form again, although with some of the current template's changes implemented. But before that happens, let there be discussion concerning the matter.
Above all, however, the Wikipedian community respects the enthusiasm and willingness to contribute from everyone who has worked on this template, regardless of what changes are ultimately implemented.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 129.105.121.190 (talk • contribs) .
- The template was copied from Template:Infobox_animanga which is used on most main articles. This uses the standard fontsize for infoboxes. The only font size that I changed with the title.
- I've reverted the table to the purple. (Incidentally, I pulled that color from Inuyasha's robe.)
- Adding Furigana is completely against style policies at WP:MOS-JA, that's why I removed the from the various article. We don't add furigana to Wikipedia articles. --Kunzite 18:22, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

- This may be a misunderstanding, but it appears as if the font size you have selected is ‘small’, and therefore not the default size of 300 px. While a smaller size is used in many articles about anime themselves, upon checking various character pages, most of the characters' boxes seem to have the default size of 300 px.

- What was the source of the image you pulled the colour from? It really did look more vermillion, whereas other pictures look red. Either way, a ‘colder’ colour like purple or green really feels more medieval. Thank you for changing it back.

- After reading the link you provided in its entirety, it appears as if furigana are just outright not mentioned in the manual of style. At all. That will be brought up in discussion there, as it is decidedly farther-reaching than just manga templates.
