Canadian Music Creators' Coalition

Canadian Music Creators Coalition è un gruppo di importanti artisti canadesi desiderosi di un nuovo regime di libertà lontano dai vincoli imposti dall'idustria della produzione musicale. In sostanza questi artisti si sono riuniti e prendono le distanze dalle politiche delle major per quanto riguarda il diritto d'autore.
I 3 punti fondamentali.
Gli artisti sostengono di essere loro i creatori della musica canadese, ed anche se sono associati a grandi etichette discografiche,si sentono soffocare da loro e soprattutto non vengono rappresentati i loro interessi. I punti fondamentali sono:
- denunciare i fan è ipocrito e distruttivo
- le restrizioni digitali(tipo DRM) sono rischiose e controproducenti
- gli artisti canadesi dovrebbero godere del supporto dei Beni Culturali.
Gli artisti non vogliono denunciare gli appassionati di musica, i produttori hanno denunciato i loro fan contro il loro volere e le leggi che giustificano queste denunce non possono essere sostenute con i loro nomi. Il DRM è frustrante sia per i musicisti sia per gli appassionati di musica perchè non ti permette di usufruirne come si vuole: chi compra deve poter trasferire la musica in altri formati secondo il concetto del fair use, senza dover pagare due volte. I musicisti di CMCC dichiarano di sentirsi accerchiati da interessi, quelli delle major, che non li rappresentano e non li riguardano: il riferimento è ad associazioni come l'americana RIAA.
