my name's Il tuo vero nome (aka Nome utente su Wikipedia), and I cooperate with the Wikipedia Project to build a free encyclopedia. Wikipedia is the worldwide largest free encyclopedia available. Our mission is to keep intact all human knowledge in centuries by documenting every single relevant aspect of human history. Wikipedia is available in many languages at www.wikipedia.org. I have written an article about Nome dell'articolo on the Italian Wikipedia at URL articolo and I have noticed your image at URL immagine da copiare. I would like to include that image into my article and, if possible, in all other translated versions in the other Wikipedias. Unfortunately, since we assume you hold the copyright on that image unless explicitely write soemthing else, I can't upload the image on Wikipedia servers. If you wish to contribute to Wikipedia with that image, you'll have to give Wikimedia Foundation a written authorization to use that image on a certain version of Wikipedia (ie. just the Italian one I've mentioned, or a list of Wikipedias you prefer) or to the whole Wikipedias worldwide.

In order to helping us with your image, you'll have to authorize us to use it, by following a simple procedure. I don't want to be too complicated on this matter, but it is important to fully explain the licensing possibilities. First of all, you have to choose a license for your content. As I said before, since nothing is written on your website, we assume that you won't give us the right to use the image. If you already know enough about licensing with GNU licenses and Creative Commons, I can tell you that if you choose one of the following licenses, I'll be able to upload the image to Wikipedia without troubles:

• GNU FDL (Free Documentation License)
• Creative Commons-2.5-BY

Anyway, you can freely list what we can and what we can't do with your content.

• Reproduction: it is required to give us the right of reproduction of the image on Wikipedia. You can choose which Wikipedias should display the image (all or a single one...)
• Attribution: you can require us to display your name (only real name accepted: no nicknames) in the image description and to post a link to your website, or you can else stay anonymous
• Derivative works: you can forbid us to create works that derivate from yours
• Commercial use: you can forbid us to use your image for commercial use. However, please remember that Wikipedia is planning to sell printed and CD version at the cost-price (since everything is free), and if you don't give us permission to use your image for commercial purposes we won't be able to include your work in these versions (the image will be kept only online)

These were simple guidelines. Copyright laws allow the copyright owner to freely decide the allowed usages of his works, but we prefer that you keep yourself on these guidelines.

After choosing a license, you'll have to write an email (and possibly digitally-signing it) to me and permissions@wikimedia.org, stating that you are the copyright owner of the above image and that you are releasing it to Wikipedia under your chosen license/conditions.

If you don't want your image to be uploaded into those Wikipedias that do not allow fair use images, please just ignore this message and accept my apologizes.
