Ja'far (Arabic: جعفر) is an Arabic name, variously transliterated as Jafar, Džafer, Jaffar, Jaafar or Giafar. It is the name of several historical and fictional characters:
- Ja'far ibn Yahya, the vizier of Caliph Harun al-Rashid,who also featured in several Arabian Nights tales. Many "evil vizier" stereotypes are inaccurately (the role of evil advisor is mainly represented by other advisors in history and literature) based on him, including:
- Jafar (Aladdin), the villain of Disney's Aladdin
- Jaffar (Fire Emblem), in the Fire Emblem series
- Jaffar (Prince of Persia), the villain of the Prince of Persia series
