James Milliken

James B. Milliken is the current President of the University of Nebraska system, a capacity in which he has served since August 1, 2004. He previously served as the Corporation Secretary for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents; he returned to Nebraska following a period as the Senior Vice President for University Affairs at the University of North Carolina.
James Milliken graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1979 with a degree in English, and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. During his senior year, he was a member of the Society of Innocents, the chancellor's senior honorary. He graduated from the New York University School of Law in 1983, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
His wife, Nana Smith, is an attorney; they have three children and reside in Lincoln.
