James Redfield

James Redfield (b. March 19, 1950) is an American novelist.
James Redfield was born near Birmingham, Alabama and studied psychology at Auburn University. Redfield earned a master's degree in counseling in 1974 and for the next 15 years worked as a therapist for troubled children in Auburn, Alabama, and later in Birmingham. Then in 1989 he quit his job to publish his first novel, The Celestine Prophecy, which was self-published in 1992 .
As of May 2005, The Celestine Prophecy had sold over 20 million copies worldwide and had been translated into 34 languages. A film version of the book opened in limited release on April 21, 2006.
