Jamila
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[[1]]Jamila (ジャミラ Jamira) was a monster that appeared in the Japanese superhero show Ultraman.
[edit] Ultraman
Originally Jamila was an astronaut, but his travels in space had changed him into a gigantic monster. He manages to repair his ship and return to Earth to exact revenge on the people who sent him on his doomed mission. Science Patrol member Ide is reluctant to kill Jamila because his transformation into a monster isn't his fault, but his teammates manage to convince him that because Jamila is endangering people who have done him no wrong, he must be stopped. Jamila's Achilles heel is discovered to be water, and Ultraman kills him by spraying him with a stream of it.
[edit] Ultraman Powered
Jamila, renamed Jamra, was reused in a later series, Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero, which procured all of its monsters from episodes of the original series. Jamra was, as before, an astronaut transformed by bizarre celestial phenomenon (exactly what is left deliberately mysterious). He returns to Earth and tries to reunite with his daughter, who is kidnapped by unscrupulous men trying to find out how Jamra is still alive. He reveals that he has gained the power to transform into a powerful monster and fights Ultraman to a standstill before the pleas of his daughter restore his humanity and he allows Ultraman to destroy him.
