Jampur

Jampur is a small city located in the district of Rajanpur, south of Dera Ghazi Khan, in the centre of Pakistan. It comprises an area of about 5 square kilometres and has a population of 80'000.

Jampur is a historic city and the archeologists believe that it is very old. For this they present the old "Dalo Ra-oy ka theer" from which antiques for more than 2000 years old were found. When the great Alexander, the Greek, had a decision to conquer the whole world, came here, he was greatly impressed and inspired by the beauty of Queen Rukhsana, then according to the legend, he married her. A well-known beauty soap by the multi-national company "Unilever" is named after her.
When the Halooko khan & Chengez khan arrived here to conquer,Olederly Jampur was known as "Jadampur", but when the Big cast Arain(Known As Jam)came and settled here as populated Cast among others,Jadampur became "JAMPUR",Since that History of Jampur is Written as it is in Govt. Well known personalities Of Jam Family are Mr. Jam Amin Ahmad Arain(Late),"Mr. Jam Hafiz Muhammad Shafi Arain(Late). The famous royal "Ghilzai" family who are descendent of Khilji kings of Indian subcontinent,also reside in Jampur.This family is famous for its modern Life style with traditional honour and nobilityty.Royal family is famous for their business and education.The royal family also runs Gold,software and textile business in the city and also has strong political influence.
Jampur is a small,beautiful and clean city.people are very cooperative,peaceful and friendly.Jampur has very nice environment.Nowadays Jampur is progressing by leaps & bounds.Jampur is well developed city with Highly Equpiied Hospitals,Banks,Schools, and mobile/Telephone System. The city is connected by internet to the whole world.The city is decorated by two parks.

Jampur is rather sparingly populated and has little industry, though the land is very fertile. There is a Tehsil headquarter hospital and basic governmental and educational institutions. One of its most famous educational institutions is the Govt. Boys High School, which was founded in 1935, as a consequence of the introduction of the British Government system in 1857. Govt. High School is one of the reforms brought on by the British Government.
Nowadays there are a lot of different schools and people aiming to educate their children, Hira High School,Almumtaz High school and Sir Syed public High School.The principal of Hira School, Mr.Nazir Ahmad Quraishi is well known educationist of this city.Jampur is famous all over the world for its wooden handicraft and engraving on writing pens.
