Jan Kunc

Jan Kunc (March 27, 1883- September 11, 1976) was a Czech composer, pedagogue and writer. He was a pupil of Czech composer Leoš Janáček in teacher's institution (1898-1902) and organ school (1902-1903). He studied composition with Vitezslav Novak from 1905 to 1906. During the years 1919-1945, he was a professor at Brno's conservatory and from 1923 to 1945 he was the director of this institution. He composed music for piano, chamber music, mixed choir, solo vocal and symphonic poems. In 1935 he created the official harmonisation of the Czech state anthem.
