Janni Howker

Janni Howker is author of several award winning adult and children’s books, and has also adapted her work for the screen. She has worked across the UK running Creative Writing workshops for adults and children, and is involved in several arts development programmes.
She lives in the North of England where many of her books are set (most notably Martin Farrell which tells the tale of a boy caught in the midst of the bloody feuds of the Border Reivers).

Awards include: the International Reading Award, the Tom-Gallon Award, the Observer Teenage Fiction Award, the best children's book in the 1985 Whitbread Awards and the Somerset Maugham Award.

Badger On The Barge was Janni Howker's first book and was short-listed for both the Whitbread Children's Award and the Carnegie Medal.
Other books include: Nature of the Beast, Isaac Campion, Martin Farrell, Walk With a Wolf and the Topiary Garden.
