[edit] Background
In January of 1980, Wings planned a tour of Japan. However, upon arrival at the airport, McCartney was arrested for marijuana possession. The tour was cancelled, and Laine's relationship with McCartney has never recovered. Then he released the single "Japanese Tears," with lyrics that explicitly commented on McCartney's arrest. It become the title track of his next album.
This album included a remake of the Moody Blues' 1965 hit "Go Now", and a remake of an original 1967 Laine song "Say You Don't Mind". Three of the songs--"Send Me The Heart", "I Would Only Smile", and "Weep For Love"--were previously unreleased Wings recordings with Denny singing lead, while two songs featured the short-lived Denny Laine Band.[1]
This album has been reissued several times, under a variety of titles.
