Jean-Claude Fournier (born May 21, 1943, Paris), known simply as Fournier, is a French cartoonist best known for being in charge of creating Spirou albums in the years 1969-1980.
In 1965, Fournier approached Franquin with drawings of his favourite characters, the cast of Spirou. As Franquin sought a way to retire as Spirou creator, and devote himself to Gaston Lagaffe, he passed the work on to Yvan Delporte, the editor of Spirou magazine. Fournier's own creation Bizu eventually ran in Spirou magazine between 1967-69, when Dupuis chose Fournier to continue Franquin's work. Fournier added his personnal poetic and environmentalistic mark to the saga.
After nine albums, he passed the task on to Nic & Cauvin, and devoted himself to Bizu. In 1998 he launched Les Crannibales, a humoristic comics on the script of Zidrou.
