Jean-Pierre Cassel

Jean-Pierre Cassel (b. October 27, 1932), is a French actor, born in Paris.

Discovering Cassel tap dancing on stage, Gene Kelly asked him to a film shooting in Paris. Then Cassel gained fame in the late 1950s as a hero in comedies by Philippe de Broca.
During the 1960s and 1970s he worked with Claude Chabrol (La Rupture), Luis Buñuel (Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie), Ken Annakin (Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines), Gérard Brach (The Boat on the Grass), Richard Lester (The Three Musketeers), Sidney Lumet (Murder on the Orient Express), Joseph Losey (The Trout). One of his late great roles he has played in Robert Altman's Prêt-à-Porter (1994) and also as Dr. Paul Gachet for Vincent & Theo (1990).
He is father of Vincent Cassel and Cécile Cassel.
