Jeanne Hopkins Lucas

Jeanne Hopkins Lucas was a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's twentieth Senate district, including constituents in Durham county. Lucas served four terms in the state Senate and served as Co-Chairman of the Appropriations on Education/Higher Education committee. Lucas was a native of Durham, North Carolina and an alum of Hillside High School, attending the historically black school from 1951-1953 and teaching French and Spanish there from 1957-1975.
Lucas died on the night of March 9, 2007 at the age of 71. No details were made immediately available.[1]
