[edit] The Basics
(to be updated and wikified)
I am a professional writer based in Melbourne (and soon to be in Bright, in the alpine region). I specialise in translating technical information into plain English. In a commercial setting, this usually means finding some people related to the technology and putting them back in, so the 'story' makes sense. For example, at the moment I am writing brochures about a software application. The whole project was quite dull until I drilled down to who the users are and what they're actually doing with their working lives.
I have a huge interest in the arts in general, and in particular opera, orchestral music, writing and painting. These things are at least as important as shopping, watching TV and doing housework.
I also love the bush and I am re-awakening a dormant interest in hiking. I had forgotten how fit one could become quickly until last weekend's trip up Mount Feathertop.
I am open to feedback, a passionate, kind person normally. Will cry buckets of tears at It's a Wonderful Life, Australian Story or Dvořák's 'Song to the Moon'. However, I am intolerant of bullies of all kinds and tend to be a bit impatient at times.
