Jere D Brower born September 1, 1950 Tupelo, MS US Army general and politician.
[edit] Early life
Jere Brower was born in Tupelo, MS in 1950. His father was a well known lawyer and his mother a southern socialite. Brower attended University of West Georgia on a ROTC scholarship. At West Georgia Brower was a standout football and basketball star. He was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Brower was commissoned into the Army in 1972 and was posted first at Fort Drum, NY. He served in a varitey of functions over the years-infantry company commander, aide d'camp for General William Tully, infantry battilon commander, division executive officer and division commander. He was posted in Europe, Korea, Ft Benning, GA and Ft Bliss, TX. He was selected to be a general in 1993. Brower became the US Army Fifth Corps commander in 1998 and commanded from the headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. He was selected for the US Army European commander post in 2002. He retired from the Army in 2004.

In 2006, Brower ran for and won the Republican primary for mayor of Tupelo, MS. He is expected to win by a landslide.
