Jerry Moore

Jerry Moore is the current head football coach at Appalachian State University, filling the position since 1989. Moore has had a winning record in 15 out of the last 16 seasons. He led the Mountaineers to the NCAA Division I-AA national football championship in 2005. This was the first national championship for any collegiate football team in the state of North Carolina. Moore and the Mountaineers repeated as champions in 2006, becoming the first team to do so since Georgia Southern won in 1999 and 2000.
Prior to coaching at Appalachian State, Moore served as the head football coach at the University of North Texas from 1979 to 1980, and at Texas Tech from 1981 to 1985. His record at Texas Tech was 16-37-2. His career record is 167-115-2.
