JetPaks
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The JetPak spa jetting system was invented in 1989 by Dave Ludlow in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dave had been involved in the pool and spa industry for a number of years selling and repairing spas. As a result of his experience in the industry, he came to realize that the basic design being used by most spa manufactures at the time was fundamentally flawed. This led to the invention of the JetPak System which is available exclusively through Bullfrog International LLC.
The JetPak system improves on the traditional spa design by placing jets on removable plates that are submerged in the spa water rather than drilled into the spa shell directly. This concept allows the spa to be more watertight as there are fewer holes drilled directly into the spa shell.
The JetPak system also provides another advantage over traditionally built spas. Because each of the JetPaks are removable, spa owners have the option of changing the location of the JetPaks inside of the spa. It also allows them to upgrade their spas as more advancements are made.
[edit] How is a JetPak made?
Traditional spas are built with one piece of molded plastic. This plastic is molded into the shape of the spa and then holes are drilled into it so that the spa jetting can be placed on the spa. The problem with this design is that each hole is a potential point for a leak. The JetPak system improves on this design by drilling the jet holes into plates that stay submerged in the spa water and more importantly inside the shell of the spa. Once the jets are installed on the plates, the plumbing is added. The finished JetPak is then placed in the spa.
