From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jim Popp (born December 21, 1964 in Elkin, North Carolina) is the general manager and head coach of the Montreal Alouettes football club of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
The most successful general manager in the CFL of his generation, Popp has won two Grey Cups (1996 Baltimore Stallions, 2002 Montreal Alouettes.)
He has been the Als' general manager since 1996 and is currently serving his second term as the team's coach. The first time, he took over after management (Popp, team president Larry Smith, and owner Robert Wetenhall) fired Rod Rust in the midst of a long losing during the 2001 season. This time, he took over on October 4, 2006 following the resignation of Don Matthews.
