Jimmy Jump
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jimmy Jump is a Spanish Catalan "jumper", or pitch invader. According to his website, his basic aim is to become famous by infiltrating major events and stealing the show.
His most famous "jump" occurred on July 4, 2004, during the Euro 2004 final between Greece and Portugal. This particular pitch invasion seemed to serve two purposes, as not only did Jimmy gain worldwide coverage, the Catalan "jumper" seemed to be settling a score against Portuguese football star Luís Figo, who upset FC Barcelona fans after transferring to arch-rival team Real Madrid.
He also ran through the starting lane at the 2004 Spanish Grand Prix.
He was seen at a major event when he "jumped" during the Primera División match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on November 19, 2005.
The most recent time he was seen was on the 25th April 2006 during the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals between Villarreal CF vs Arsenal FC. Jimmy Jump ran on to the pitch just before the second half began and threw a Barcelona shirt at Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, with "Henry" "14" printed on the back. The match took place at Villarreal's home stadium, El Madrigal, which ended as a 0-0 draw giving Arsenal 1 - 0 win on aggregate. Jimmy Jump was tackled on the field by stadium security and later fined 60,100 euros by Spain's sporting anti-violence commission. Henry, who was rumored to be considering a move to Barcelona, signed a four-year contract extension with Arsenal on May 19, 2006
