Jirku-Judge

Jirku-Judge (also known as Jirku/Judge) is the creative works of Tomas Jirku and Robin Judge - two like minded electronic music artists from Canada.
[edit] Biography
Their previous EP and a full-length CD release on Onitor Records have been regarded as “a lovely CD of skipping percussion and uncommon restraint…resulting in an extraordinarily tactile sound that practically begs to be blindfolded.” - Philip Sherbourne [WIRE Magazine]. With the success of their previous releases, the duo is now ready to unleash a second EP, Remix EP and full-length CD on Onitor Records out of Cologne, Germany.
The compositional musings of Jirku-Judge, occupy the space between dance-floor and listening music. There is a definite balance between the two worlds, yet at times diving deep in to one or the other. In their musical experiments, intricate rhythms are woven together in to a unique style that is equally comfortable in exploring playful ambience as it is making excursions into swinging percussive funk.
Both Tomas Jirku and Robin Judge have their own distinct territories for discovery and through solo releases.
Robin Judge carefully constructs scenarios that explore processes within the digital realm. Focusing on the subtle relationships between rhythm and texture, she shapes auditory space with layered compositions to create a tapestry of sound. Robin Judge has released on such labels as Mille Plateaux, Traum and Onitor. Her solo album on Noise Factory Records has been described as "Understated and elegant while still being face-forward fresh, Robin Judge uses minimal house-tech standards to construct an insouciant and sophisticated atmosphere.” [EXCLAIM Magazine] Robin Judge has performed live at the [Mutek] festival in Montreal opening for Monolake, Akufen, Ricardo Villalobos and Ritchie Hawtin. She has performed across North America and has toured throughout Europe. Her live shows exhibit the many facets of her musical concepts.
Tomas Jirku has quickly established himself on the international electronic music scene. From his humble beginnings of independently released CD-Rs and MP3s, Jirku's unrelenting, unpredictable explorations of techno have since been released on prestigious record labels around the world. He first received international attention with his online "Variants" project, with which he exposed his creative process on the No-Type Internet website, collecting a series of 59 interrelated compositions. Jirku has since created an impressive catalogue of diverse music ranging from scientifically experimental acid-techno on Netherlands' Audio. NL, to deep and dubby dance-hall on Mitchell Akiyama's Intr_version label which “[elevated] him to the ranks of Thomas Koner, Amon Tobin, Anthony Rother, Richie Hawtin, DJ Shadow, Solvent and a host of other artists who re-vision electronic music.” [XLR8R Magazine]
