Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course

Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course (賽馬會滘西洲公眾高爾夫球場) is a golf course on Kau Sai Chau, south of Sai Kung in Hong Kong. It is the only golf course that can be played by non-members of the Jockey Club. The course is affectionately known as Kau Sai Chau. The golf club overlooks the new territories smaller islands and boasts wild forest hills in which wild pigs and venomous snakes reside as well as many stray golf balls. All in all there are thirty-six holes divided up into a north and south course each hole was designed by Gary Player.

[edit] Getting to KSC
Ferry service runs between Sai Kung and Kau Sai Chau every hour at the hour, 20 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour. The journey takes about 15 minutes each way. After 8:00 p.m., ferry service maintains at a half-an-hour interval. From Sai Kung to Kau Sai Chau, the ferry service starts at 6:40 a.m. daily and ends at 9:00 p.m., except for Mondays and Thursdays when our facilities are closed at 7:00 p.m. Back to Sai Kung, the ferry service starts at 8:00 a.m. daily and ends according to our closing time at 8:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays or at 10:00 p.m. for the rest of the week. If by private car you must first go to Sai Kung, park at the Kau Sai Chau Golf Course Public Car Park at the end of Wai Man Road. From the Car Park or Bus Terminus proceed to the waterfront where you board the Golf Course's ferry for Kau Sai Chau.

The club was recently awarded the accolade of 'Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" no other golf club in China has been awarded such an accolade.
[edit] Current Projcts at KSC
With the support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and the HKSAR Government, the Golf Course has commenced the following works on the island, including:
- 1) Construction of a new 18-hole golf course (The East Course)
- 2) Expansion of the existing facilities within the Administration Building
- 3) Extension of the existing Golf Course Maintenance Building
- 4) Installation of a desalination plant near the Kau Sai Chau pier
It is expected to complete the project by the 3rd quarter of 2007.
