Joe Keating was a candidate for Governor from the Pacific Green Party in the 2006 Oregon Gubernatorial race.

Keating enlisted in the United States Army in 1964, serving as a second lieutenant until 1967. After a return to the private sector, he was recalled to active duty in 1971, where he served as a captain.

Keating returned to the private sector in 1973 before moving from New York City to Oregon in 1988. From 1988 to 1991, he worked as the operations director and action coordinator for Oregon Greenpeace. From 1992 to 1995 he served as a director and coordinator of United Community Action Network. In 1994, he worked as station manager for KBOO Radio. In 1996 he was the Pacific Green candidate Congress. He also served as the chair of the Oregon Sierra Club from 1999 to 2000.
