[edit] The John Corby Show
The John Corby Show stars Corby and Joe Bradley. Corby talks about recent local and national news in a lighthearted way, with help from Bradley's sarcastic interjections and choices of humorous background music. John Corby has a laid back manor that is easy to listen to. Joe has a sharp wit and adds humor to the show. All of Johns callers are treated with respect. John does not try to over-talk them or shout them down. Sometimes he pays so little attention to them he misses their point completely. Each days topics are often of the oddities that people face in everyday life.
[edit] Trademarks
- Always starts his show by saying "It's the big Monday/Tuesday/etc. show!"
- Callers frequently wish John "Happy Birthday" referring to a caller mistakingly wishing John "Happy Birthday" on a day that was not his birthday.
[edit] The Big Bass Brothers
The Big Bass Brothers are John Corby, Joe Bradley, and Joel Riley, another popular WTVN host. They travel as a group for this segment, in which the men review area restaurants and rate them according to the single experience. Restaurants receive a rating of up to five "bellies" (instead of stars). Reasons for a low rating can be based on the food, service, ambience, or price, or any contrived excuse the men wish to offer. Restaurants that hope for a visit from the Big Bass Brothers would do well to remind their waitstaffs to keep customers' drink glasses full.
The segment is sponsored by a popular area restaurant called City Barbeque.
The Big Bass Brothers segment airs on Fridays at 3pm and at 6pm.
