John Dardis

John Dardis (born July 1945) is an Irish politician and member of the 22nd Seanad Éireann for the Progressive Democrats.
Dardis has served in Seanad Éireann since 1989, being nominated by the Taoiseach in 1989, 1997 and 2002, and elected by the Agricultural Panel in 1992. He stood for election to Dáil Éireann for the Kildare constituency in the 1992, but was unsuccessful. After the division of the constituency, he stood again in the Kildare South constituency in the 1997 general election and again in 2002, but was defeated on both occasions. He also stood for election to the European Parliament in 1989 and 1994.
In 2005, Dardis took office as Chairman of the Progressive Democrats Parliamentary Party. A farmer and former journalist, he lives in Newbridge, County Kildare.
