John Godfrey can refer to:

- Composer and performer, co-founder and musical director of Icebreaker (1989-1997), founder member of The Crash Ensemble (1997-present), lecturer in music at National University of Ireland, Cork
- John Godfrey, bassist with Mungo Jerry, 1971-72
- Rear Admiral John Godfrey was head of British Department of Naval Intelligence during World War II. Future James Bond author Ian Fleming worked for him during the war, and modeled Bond's superior M after him.
- Captain John Godfrey was the author of a fencing manual:
- "A Treatise Upon the Useful Science of Defence, Connecting the Small and Back-Sword, and shewing the affinity between them : likewise endeavouring to weed the art of those superfluous, unmeaning practices which over-run it [...] : with some observations upon boxing, and the characters of the most able boxers within the author's time. - Captain John Godfrey was an American fighter pilot in the 4th Fighter Group of the Eighth Air Force in World War II. He achieved 18 air-to-air kills against the Luftwaffe before he was shot down by friendly fire on August 24, 1944 and captured by the Germans. Originally from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, he died on June 12, 1958 of Lou Gehrig's Disease.
