John Halls (born 14 February 1982 in Islington, London) is a professional footballer with Reading. His career began in Arsenal's youth setup, where he featured in the FA Youth Cup-winning team of 2000. However, the young defender found first-team football at Highbury hard to come by, making only a few League Cup appearances for the club. Like many Arsenal juniors, he was frequently loaned out; to Colchester United, KSK Beveren and Stoke City. It was this final loan that yielded a permanent move, in December 2003.

Halls made 74 appearances for Stoke, before moving to Reading on 19 January 2006 for an initial fee of £250,000; an extra sum of £50,000 was paid when Reading were promoted to the Premier League at the end of the 2005-06 season. Stoke will also receive 20% of any future transfer fee. His contract will keep him at Reading until June 2008.
