John Carter Hensley (born August 29, 1977) is an actor known for his role he plays on Nip/Tuck as Matt McNamara. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Before becoming an actor, Hensley worked on a horse ranch in Wyoming.

John's parents divorced when he was 3. He and his sister split their time between both parents, but did not seem to mind this arrangement.

John did not intend to act before he auditioned for a school play. Although he was not cast, he was hooked on acting. He decided to take a week long trip to New York, where he met his future manager.
John says that he would have been just as content to wrangle horses on the farm if acting had not panned out. He did not choose acting as a permanent career before he got a call back from his soon-to-be manager.
Hensley's first major role was playing Luke Madigan on the TV series Madigan Men. His next television role was Gabriel Bowman on the series Witchblade. Currently, Hensley portrays troubled teen Matt McNamara on the FX drama Nip/Tuck.
His film appearances have included Campfire Stories, Peoples, and Fifty Pills.
Hensley plays on the World Poker Tour in the Hollywood Home games for the Beacon House charity.
