John Leslie Nuzo, born January 25, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a prolific porn actor who went on to have a long-running career as a producer and director of adult movies. Usually credited under the name John Leslie, he has also worked under a variety of pseudonyms, including Louis T. Beagle, John Leslie Dupre, and John Nuzzo.
Beginning with 1973's Sensuous Delights, Leslie was a performer in almost 300 adult films. In the seven years from 1978 and 1984, he won the AVN Best Actor award five times, winning the Best Supporting Actor award as well in 1984 and 1985. He appeared with some of the era's most noted porn stars, including Traci Lords, Seka, Christy Canyon, and Barbara Dare.
He was one of the first porn actors to make the transition from performing to directing, beginning with 1987's Nightshift Nurses. Since then he has directed more than 90 adult movies, including The Chameleon (1989), Curse of the Catwoman (1992), Dog Walker (1994), and Drop Sex (1997), along with the Voyeur, Fresh Meat and Crack Her Jack series. He won the AVN Best Director award in 1994.
He was a member of The Brooklyn Blues Busters, a Southeastern Michigan based musical group which formed in 1970 whose members were John Leslie, harpist/vocalist, Johnny Ace on bass guitar, Frannie Kristina (later the drummer for the Fabulous Thunderbirds), Howard T. Levine on guitar and keyboardist Bill Hyde. Martin Gross also played drums with them. The Brooklyn Blues Busters quickly rose in the blues ranks and often backed up John Lee Hooker on his East Coast shows. They also backed up the Queen of the Blues, herself, Victoria Spivey, whom they called "Queenie." The Brooklyn Blues Busters backed her up for the 1973 Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival.
John also worked for a time as a bartender in the early 1970's at Mr. Flood's Party, a bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
