John Márquez

John E. Márquez is a city council member of the California city of Richmond, California.
He was the first Latino on the council and remained the only one for 14 years. He is originally from New Mexico and has served in the Army. He is running for reelection in the 2006 city council race. He is the Contra Costa County Hispanic of the Year (2006).
For his years of distinguished service he was honored by a California assembly resolution for outstanding community service by state assemblyman Robert Campbell (of California's 11th district).
