John McGee

John McGee is only the third freshman legislator in the last thirty years to serve on the Idaho Legislature's powerful JFAC (appropriations) Committee. McGee also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Transportation Committee and sits on the Health and Welfare Committee.
As the executive director of the Western Canyon Youth and Family Coalition, Sen. McGee helped to create after-school programs for Caldwell's children. As a legislative assistant to Governor and United States Senator Dirk Kempthorne, McGee drafted legislation and policy statements that were signed into law by the President of the United States.
Sen. McGee is active in his community as the Vice Chairman of the Canyon County Republican Central Committee and is a Commissioner on the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs. McGee is a member of the Caldwell Rotary Club and is the Chairman of the Regional Substance Abuse Authority Legislative Committee. Sen. McGee serves his alma mater, Albertson College, as a Board Member of the Albertson College National Alumni Board.
Sen. McGee received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Agriculture Educators and the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of State Foresters.
A life-long resident of Caldwell, Sen. McGee is a graduate of Vallivue High School and received a BA in History from Albertson College of Idaho, he was elected student body president at both institutions. McGee and his wife, Hanna, live in Caldwell.
