John O'Neil (born June 7, 1971 in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire) is a Scottish professional footballer. He currently plays for Gretna.

O'Neil, a right winger, began his career at Dundee United, where he progressed through the youth ranks. In 1994, he was signed by Paul Sturrock, manager of United's Tayside rivals St. Johnstone. He spent six years at McDiarmid Park before joining Hibernian.

It was during his spell with the Edinburgh club that O'Neil gained his only cap for Scotland, a start in a 1-1 draw against Poland in an away friendly on April 25, 2001.^[1]

After three years with Hibs, O'Neil joined Falkirk. Another move followed, in 2006, to Gretna, where he was reunited with former St. Johnstone teammate, veteran goalkeeper Alan Main.
