John Penn (governor)

John Penn (1729-1795) was one of the last colonial proprietors of Pennsylvania, and Lieutenant Governor of the colony from 1763 to 1776. He lived on 3rd Street in Philadelphia. He built a new 3 story row house on the location where George Washington met with and stayed with various Spanish Admirals. This house was the location of the first Spanish Embassy to the new United States of America.
