John Randall was the 4th president of the Rochester Institute of Technology, succeeding Royal Farnum, from 1922-1936. Previously Randall had been undersecretary to the secretary of war, head of the physics department in Pratt Institute, and a teacher at Cheltenham Military School. He was instrumental in the decision that RIT would not grant degrees and instead provide "short, intensive courses".
