John Tambouras

John Tambouras (born January 30, 1979) is an Australian football (soccer) player who played central defender for Pahang FA in the Super League. His very good in the air as well as quick and athletic player who never has second thoughts about a tackle.
He was scouted in his junior years to South Melbourne and emerged as a fine yound talent. With not many opportunities arising for Tambo he went abroad and played in his parents country of Greece for Kalamata. He played his most memorable game there against Olympiacos in the Intototo Cup which the two teams drew 1-1. He arrived back in Australia playing for Auckland Kingz for the 2003-2004 season. Next season he in the new Hyundai A-League and New Zealand Knights saw him as a hard working and committed defender which led to his signing in 2005-2006. After the season he went to Pahang for a season were he won the FA Cup which went down on penalties. After his stint in Malaysia he went back to New Zealand to help the knights in their last few games of the season in which he scored a superb header against Queensland Roar were New Zealand won 3-1. He is now on trial at Romanian club FC Universitatea Craiova.
His former clubs are South Melbourne, Kalamata SC, Auckland Kingz and Pahang FA
