Johnny Hyde was a very influential, powerhouse agent of the 1940s. He was very famous for an affair that he had with Marilyn Monroe in 1948 when he was in his 70s and she was just a young woman beginning her career. He was currently married and had 3 children but was enchanted by her.
He transformed her physical and public image, because he believed in her. He persuaded Monroe to have plastic surgery and bleach her hair regularly to maintain her “blonde bombshell” image. Hyde assisted Marilyn in getting a contract with 20th Century Fox, a company that had turned her away two years earlier. He is credited as the man who created her career, his work was what gradually created her image as a sex symbol, something that she is the most notable of today.
